The old ones knew: leave butter on the porridge, hang steel over the stall, and never give the forest your true name.

Skrock is a single-player deckbuilder where Hearthstone-style board combat (minions, trading, a mana curve) meets a roguelike run through Swedish folklore. Play as the Tomten, keeper of the farm, or the Draugen, drowned and unresting, and face the väsen as they actually appear in the folk records: the mara who rides sleepers by night, näcken waiting in the rapids, the myling asking for a name.

  • A real board. Minions persist, trades matter, and the enemy plays cards too.
  • Day and night. The world darkens as night falls. The night creatures wake.
  • Folklore, done properly. The creatures are grounded in Swedish folk tradition, drawing on the archives of Institutet för språk och folkminnen. The wards in the game are the wards people actually used.
  • Two heroes, two acts, over a hundred cards. This free demo is the full journey: stitched folk maps, elites and treasures, folklore events at the fireside, and a boss at the end of each act.
  • A collection that grows. Win or lose, runs earn gold; gold opens Skrockpaket; every new card joins the pool your next run drafts from.

Made by one person in Sweden, directing a team of AI agents for code, illustration, and testing. The folklore is drawn from the Swedish folk-record archives where the records reach; where the game invents, it invents in their spirit. Card illustrations are AI-generated in a hand-cut paper diorama style; the folk tunes are traditional and public domain.

Skrock is Swedish for superstition.
